Wes Covington's practice focuses on trial work in the negligence and the medical malpractice areas. Mr. Covington was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1981. He received his undergraduate education at Duke University and his law degree from North Carolina Central University. Mr. Covington has been very active in the representation of businesses, medical practices, and nonprofit organizations. For a number of years prior to joining the firm, Mr. Covington was an Assistant District Attorney in Durham County. An active scuba diver, he has been involved in dive accident litigation across the United States.


David O. Lewis - Partner

David Lewis' practice is concentrated in civil litigation, liability defense, worker's compensation, commercial cases, and estate disputes. He handles both trial and appellate matters. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1981. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Mr. Lewis has served as a professor of business law in the UNC system, and has written extensively on insurance defense and commercial law subjects. He is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. He is admitted to practice in all state courts as well as the federal district courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Lindsley received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Boston University (1993) and his law degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Law - Camden (1998).  He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1999 and has been practicing with the firm ever since.   He is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina.  His areas of practice include general civil matters and litigation, insurance defense, commercial law, corporate formation and corporate governance, workers’ compensation, criminal defense and traffic violations.  He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association.    

Elesha Smith - Associate

Ms. Smith was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College in 2002 and her law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2007. 
Her practice includes civil matters and litigation, insurance defense, criminal defense and traffic violations. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and was a participant in the North Carolina Innocence Project.
